I think you?re on to something with this statement. I also had a difficult time with my JW mother after I left. I was about twenty-five or so when I did leave (1979). I think that as long as you believe on some level the JW?s are right and you are wrong, you are going to have difficulties. You have to come to place where you realize (and on all levels) that they are wrong and you are right. It?s just that simple. When you get there, then you will come to the sad but very healthy understanding that you are wiser than your mom is. Yep, that?s right. You will realize that you have become the parent and she is now the child. Why do you need a child?s approval, right? This can be very challenging but you must come to embrace this headset. Once you do, it will be much easier to deal with her and her pious comments and attitudes, for they won?t really matter. When you know in your heart that she is wrong and has been deceived, then you will feel not anger towards her, but pity. It takes time, but you?ll get there.
BTW, I like you decision not to talk about anything JW with her. This is a great first step.

Yes you will my friend. It just takes time.
I want to say this and keep saying it. ANYONE who can break free of the shackles of the Watchtower Society has by the mere fact that they could attempt such a feat, proven that they can continue to learn through life's challenges and that they have the wherewithal to reevaluate their map and make better choices. This is no small task. If you were a JW and you have been able to come out of it, you are a strong-minded person. Give yourself a little credit, will ya?

To say that if the, "Watchtower Society would cease to exist, then this forum would lose its right to exist," would be kinda like saying when World War 2 ended that there was no need for the Holocaust survivors to be supported. (Maybe a bit of an extreme of an analogy, but it makes the point just the same.)

If the Watchtower Society closed its doors tomorrow, first we?d all have a great party. The next day, we?d all get to work helping those whose lives had been shattered, start the recovery process. Hell, it wouldn?t be the end of sites like this; it would practically be a whole new beginning. Sites like this would pop-up all over the place. Sadly, I don?t see the Watchtower Society "ceasing to exist".
